David Green has been a Golf Professional for over 16 years and has been fortunate enough to have worked alongside, played with and received tuition from some of the country's leading Professionals. Since becoming qualified at the age of 21 at Princes Championship Links Course in Sandwich, he has taught a wealth of golfers with varying ability levels - from the beginner to Tournament Professional.
As a player, David has been victorious in many local, regional and global PGA events. He has helds course records at several courses including that at Croham Hurst with a score of 61 (-9). He relishes the competitive side of the game and feels it essential to maintain a good standard of play so members and visitors have a sense of pride in their Professional's success. It is, after all, mutually beneficial.
With his own golfing career, he has been coached and guided by some of the best in the UK - David Whelan of the Leadbetter Academy and more recently Clive Tucker, coach to European Tour players, David Howell and Graeme McDowell. These Coaches have enhanced David's own golfing style which in turn have developed his own coaching techniques, ethos and ideas.
David understands that learning the game of golf can be a daunting prospect and can be viewed as a game of overly technical movements and complicated positions. His style is one of simplicity. He keeps it jargon-free and uses practical and visual aids to help retain new information. His coaching style, therefore, revolves around the following:
- Teach the individual
- Work with the pupils constraints
- Keep it simple
- Ensure the pupil understands the reasons for the changes/technique
- Create an enjoyment factor while instilling confidence into the pupil
To underpin how the golfing community recognises David for both his playing ability and charisma, he was recently asked by Callaway to become one of their prestigious Staff Players.
